Kovalchuk Oleksandr Yuriiovuch – Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and Innovative Development, Candidate of Technical Sciences. He moved to the position of Vice-Rector from the position of Deputy Director of the Research Institute of Binders and Materials. Almost all of his work is connected with the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture.

In 1998 he entered the Construction and Technology Faculty of KNUСA.
After post-graduation he worked as a leading technologist at the Research and Production Concern “Institute of Porous

Concrete” of the Academy of Civil Engineering of Ukraine (concern “Silicate”).
In 2004 he worked at the Research Institute of Binders and Materials of KNUCA, where he worked as a young researcher, and, after defending his dissertation (2008), as a Senior Research Fellow. After completing his doctorate (2017), he was appointed Deputy Director of the Research Institute of Binders and Materials.

Since September 2021 he has been working as the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Development.
He considers science as an important component of the successful work of the university. Unfortunately, the general processes in the world and domestic economy, as well as internal processes in the university significantly affect its results’ performance. The only way out in this situation is the active support of scientific youth and the involvement of a wide range of university employees into the scientific work, active participation in grant programs and international projects, participation in competitions for startup projects.
