In 1944 the Department of Urban Development was established at the Kyiv Institute of Civil Engineers. After the Kyiv Institute of Civil Engineers and the Kyiv Civil Engineering Institute merged in 1928 the Department of Urban Development became an integral part of the Kyiv Institute of Civil Engineers.
Faculty was established based on the Department of Planning and Surveying and the Department of Urban Development and Management. In 1962 the Department of Urban Development and Management was renamed to the Department of Urban Development. The Department of Geodesy was established in 1940. In 1958 it was renamed to the Department of Engineering Surveying. The Department of Geodetic Measurements Automation was created in 1974.
The first output of specialists in “Urban Development and Economy” was held in 1949 with the qualification of an engineer of urban development and management. The first output of specialists in “Engineering Surveying” was held in 1963 with the qualification of a geodetic surveyor.
The development of the Faculty began in 1994. Since 1995 the Faculty has been training specialists in “Land Management and Cadaster” and since 2002 in “Geographic Information Systems and Technologies”.
In 2002 the Urban Development Faculty was renamed to the Faculty of Geoinformation Systems and Territorial Management. In 2004 the Department of Land Management and Cadaster was established. Since 2013 the Department has been training specialists in “Evaluation of Land and Property” and since 2014 in “Space Monitoring of the Earth”.
Since 2016 the Department has been training specialists in “Tourism”.
In 2020 the Department started to train specialists in “Physical Education and Sport” on basis of the University sports complex.
The Faculty has a Specialized Scientific Council for the Protection of Doctoral and Candidate dissertations in the field of “Geodesy and Territorial Management”.
During its existence, the Faculty has trained more than 8 thousand professionals.
