Faculty of Architecture was established in 1930 based on the Faculty of Architecture, transferred from Kyiv Art Institute and the Faculty of Communal Construction, transferred from the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

Currently, approximately 1,500 students of whom 100  students are foreigners study at 30 departments of the University.

The teaching staff of the Departments included the highest-ranked architects, such as Oleksandr Verbytsky, Dmytro Dyachenko, Volodymyr Zabolotny, Oleksiy Hrytsai, Yosyp Karakis, Petro Kostyrko, Mykola Kholostenko, Petro Yurchenko and others who are considered to be authors of architectural places of interest: Kyiv railway station, Verkhovna Rada building and buildings of the central part of Kyiv.

Famous architects, Doctors of Architecture, professors, laureates of State Prizes in the field of architecture and urban planning head departments. Graduates of the Faculty of Architecture are employed, head modern architectural and design bureaus, work in public authorities.

The Faculty has established strong ties with some leading foreign universities. The Faculty entry is also highly competitive.
Teaching, creative activity of the Faculty is carried out in close cooperation with the Ukrainian Academy of Architecture, the National Union of Architects of Ukraine and leading scientific, design and construction institutions.

The scientific work of the Faculty staff is connected with the development of progressive architectural solutions in the field of social housing, barrier-free architecture, architecture of sustainable development, energy-saving, and use of efficient materials and structures.

In the field of development of architectural education the Faculty works on creating a system of continuing architectural education defined as a methodological basis for the development of state standards of architectural education for the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine.

The current forward-looking tasks of the Faculty are monitoring the state of the labour market in Ukraine to improve personnel policy in the field of architecture and urban planning, advanced training for lecturers to master modern technologies of architectural design, forecasting the development of Ukrainian architecture.
